The Erie Canal Museum presents the wild and wonderful history of the canal through exhibits that include a full replica of one of the canal's original line boats, postcards from the 19th and 20th centuries, a room dedicated to artifacts relating to the history of Syracuse, and exhibits on the creation of Syracuse China. It is situated in the 1850 Greek Revival Weighlock Building, the last building of its type in the nation. The museum is located in the heart of downtown, and the building also contains the Syracuse Heritage Area Visitor Center.
